Generally speaking, any journey of self reflection is best seasoned with a well-aged scotch. That being said, I’ll see how well I can manage without.

I’m a transplant by SoCal standards, hailing from Portland by way of the Bay Area. I came to LA to finish a degree in Journalism at CSUN and to make my way into the overstuffed and somewhat self-indulgent ranks of the world’s auto industry scribes.

My first memory of a car was as a wee tot, belted into the back seat of my dad’s navy blue 504 Peugeot. I stared at the dials and the pedals in awe and life was forever changed. Fast forward a few brief years and I’m the kid catching hell for drifting my Big Wheel down the hill and around the corner into the driveway.

It’s not like I ever really lost it, I just didn’t feel the need to brake.

Along the way, my wheeled obsessions have ranged from a Mongoose BMX and a half dozen road and mountain bikes to hot hatchbacks and currently, a rather ubiquitous Acura Integra.
Each has been an experience unto itself, constantly wrenching and tweaking in pursuit of something unique. Yep, it’s an addiction… and no, you can keep your remedy.

On the few days when I’m not under the hood or on the road, I’ll be behind a camera or under a pair of headphones, listening to nearly anything – Miles Davis to The Rolling Stones to U2 and back again is a day’s listening more often than not. As the years have clicked by, I’ve slowly realized how much of life goes by unexperienced.

Before this drifts off into complete drivel, I suppose I ought to speak to the masthead of this little outfit. It’s a play on my surname, obviously, but it’s also the raison d’être.

While life (and many a blog) end up being filled with trivial annoyances, there are times when the big shots needs a reality check. Be it political blundering or any other breach of social ethics, this is a place where my undiluted acerbic wit will come to bear should the need arise.

Further bulletins as events warrant.
